Passion Fire Sunset, 14″ x 17″, Oil on Canvas, 2015.
Bay Area friends and fans! :
The 32 Annual “Art From the Heart” benefit auction is Saturday, February 6, 6:00-9:00 pm at the University Art Gallery at Sonoma State University. I look forward to this event and have donated a piece every year since I graduated in 2011. I love to get together with teachers, colleagues, friends and Bay Area artists to check out new work, drink wine, and maybe take home a piece or two. All proceeds benefit the University Gallery to fund future shows. If you’re an art lover, this event is a fabulous opportunity to walk away with fresh, contemporary pieces from up-and-coming and seasoned artists alike; sometimes for a real bargain! For more information, visit the gallery website here.
This year I will enter my little oil painting pictured above. I remember vividly the evening two winters ago that I watched the hazy sky change from a pale turquoise green to a bright, hot neon red above Mt. Tallac. Theres something about winter sunsets in Lake Tahoe. This particular one is unlike any I’ve ever seen before or since. I remember I was especially moved because I had just sold a large oil painting to a friend of mine and the two of us were celebrating over dinner and wine. Like a good omen, with blessings, thanks and a feeling of more to come, I felt like God was putting on a show just for me 🙂 Amen!
