This stunning Emerald Bay shot by Brad Scott was the inspiration for my painting on the canvas tote. I love making small paintings like this that can be used and essentially worn every day, making it literally “wearable art”. Like most of my ideas, this one has taken years to germinate.
As far back as I can remember, I was always drawing, sketching, doodling and painting on any surface I could get my hands on. It is said most creatively springs out of boredom and I agree, mine was no different. Doodling on my jeans with ballpoint pen waiting for mom to pick me up from school. Sketching cartoons on my Vans with sharpie on the bus. One Christmas I got a face painting set and I loved to experiment on anyone who would lend me their face, hand or any other body part.
As a new mom with 2 babies under 3, I’m not bored anymore! Now I have transitioned these skills to continue to sow my creativity without sacrificing lots of time. This bag took me about 3 hours. It’s crazy what 3 hours of painting tume can do for a mother’s psyche!
What do you think about the idea of wearable art? Are you into wearing translation designs on your clothes or accessories?
