This lil painting is my first attempt at winter landscape. Im not sure why I don’t paint snowy Tahoe more often. There is a quietness to the Sierras in the winter, like a mute button sometimes, that’s so vastly different from the Summertime hustle. It’s difficult to distill but lovely to feel. I’ve had this painting in my house for the past year. I look at it everyday. This was a demo, almost. A rough draft for something much bigger to come once I get my oils out again.
I love this quiet time with my babies, but gosh I miss pushing that creamy, heavy, sticky, smelly oil paint!
